artisan bakery and café
STOP BY, RELAX,TAKE A BREAK!
Good food isn’t fast and fast food isn’t good. We serve you coffee in “real” cups. Pastries and sandwiches on real plates. We encourage you to sit down and enjoy. While we will serve you any of our items “to go,” we prefer to think of ross’ bread as a place to relax with other members of the community and take time from your busy day to treat yourself.
WHY ORGANIC?
I am committed to both social and environmental responsibility, and feel it’s important to show that commitment in all I do. In that regard, I try to exclusively use organic, local and fair trade products. Organic products are grown and created without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers, and in the case of dairy, without hormones, making my offerings healthier for people and the environment! By purchasing local ingredients whenever possible, I not only support community farms and reduce the distances that items travel to my bakery, I also provide the freshest ingredients possible for my customers. Fair Trade means that my products are acquired by means that ensure farmers receive a fair price for their labors.
GIVING BACK
ross’ bread is proud to be a corporate sponsor of the Connecticut chapter of the Northeast Organic Farming Association (CTNOFA). CT NOFA is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the practices of ecologically sound farming and gardening, and to the development of local sustainable agriculture. Their efforts give consumers increased access to safe and healthy food. Visit their website at ctnofa.org.
EVERYTHING FRESH
Everything in the bakery is baked fresh each day on the premises. If any bread is left unsold, it is distributed to local food kitchens such as the Bridgeport Rescue Mission or the Dorothy Day Hospitality House in Danbury. My commitment is fresh-baked bread.
